A Man, a Wife, and the Folly

June 21, 2009

During night shifts it becomes necessary to keep oneself awake and discussing funny anecdotes with colleagues from one’s own past often helps one stay awake. One such incident comes to my memory.

My friend once dialled a number she thought was her friend’s and burst on the phone without even confirming who it was. The gist of her very brief conversation (brief talk is unlike her, but she was in a terrible haste then) was that she wanted him to come to the hotel where she was waiting for him since long. There is a limit to waiting, she screamed at the phone. She burst on the poor fellow on the other end. As one might expect, the number was wrong and the lady who picked her phone only needed so much to make her husband’s life miserable. The husband, later, kept calling her several times pleading to clear things up with his wife but my friend was so embarrassed (may be) with the whole turn of events that she didn’t want anything to do with it. The poor guy pursued my friend for 3 full days before submitting to fate.

No one knew what happened to the poor guy! But my friend got married recently. Yes, “One man’s folly is another man’s wife!” All the best of luck to my friend.
